Hi, I’m Harry, founder of Finishing Touch, Painting & Decorating Specialist, providing high-quality painting and decorating services across Surrey, specialising in carefully prepared and beautifully finished interiors and exteriors.
I started the business at the age of 21 after spending years learning the trade alongside my dad, who has over 40 years of experience in painting and decorating. Those early years gave me a strong foundation in traditional decorating techniques, attention to detail, and the importance of doing the job properly and building a good relationship with the client.
After branching out on my own, I made it a priority to continue developing my skills and raising the standard of the work I deliver. Much of my progression has come from being heavily self-taught, researching new materials, learning modern systems, and refining preparation techniques to improve both the process and the final finish.
This has included introducing methods such as dust-free sanding systems, spray finishing, advanced repair techniques, and higher levels of surface preparation, all aimed at achieving cleaner working environments and more refined, longer-lasting finishes.
As a sole trader, every project is personally carried out and overseen by myself. This allows me to maintain complete control over the quality of the work and ensures the same high standards are applied from start to finish.
For me, decorating is not simply about applying paint. It’s about understanding surfaces, preparation, materials, and achieving a finish that genuinely improves the space. I also place great importance on building strong relationships with clients, creating a friendly and professional working environment where trust and communication are just as important as the work itself.

My Approach
Preparation is the foundation of any quality decorating project. In my experience, around 80% of the work lies in the preparation, and that’s where the difference between an average finish and an exceptional one is made.
I take pride in working methodically and with attention to detail, ensuring surfaces are properly prepared before any finishing work begins. The goal is always a finish that looks great not just on completion, but for years to come. This involves ensuring surfaces are prepared correctly, the best repairs are carried out, and the correct painting methods are used, allowing the finishing coats to do their job.
Alongside the workmanship itself, I place a strong emphasis on building trust and genuine relationships with my clients. Working in someone’s home requires a level of respect, reliability, and openness, and I believe communication is just as important as the work itself.
Because I work personally on every project, clients deal directly with me from the first conversation through to the finished result. Over time, this has naturally led to many positive working relationships, with a number of clients returning for future projects or recommending my work to friends and family.
In many cases, what begins as a working relationship often grows into something more familiar and personal. Spending days or sometimes weeks working in someone’s home creates an environment where trust builds naturally, and it’s not uncommon for clients to stay in touch long after the project has been completed.

I’ve been involved in decorating since I was around 15 years old. What began as learning the basics alongside my dad gradually developed into my own journey within the trade.

From dust-free sanding systems to spray finishing and advanced preparation techniques, I’m always looking for ways to improve both the process and the final result.
For me, decorating isn’t just about applying paint. It’s about understanding surfaces, problem areas and their causes so solutions are found, high surface preparation throughout, materials, and achieving a finish that truly elevates a space.

Based in Epsom, just off Ruxley Lane, I work within Surrey, covering a 5-mile radius from Epsom.
Keeping my work local allows me to maintain a personal service, remain accessible to clients, and balance the business with family life. It also means I’m able to stay closely involved in every project and maintain the level of quality my clients expect.
