Door Restoration: From Worn Brown to Stunning Black

Transformation: Brown Door to Shiny Black

This project shows the full restoration of a tired brown wooden door. Over time the original finish had worn away and the hardware had become dull, leaving the door looking dated and neglected.

Step 1: The Original Condition

The first stage was the existing door in its brown finish. Years of use had left the surface faded and the fittings in need of attention.

Step 2: Stripping the Paint

The old paint was completely stripped back, leaving the bare wood exposed. At this point the door was also dismantled, with all parts carefully removed ready for cleaning and restoration.

Step 3: Preparing with Undercoat

Once the surface was smooth and clean, the door was given a protective grey undercoat. This even base ensured the final paint would adhere properly and achieve a flawless finish.

Step 4: The Final Transformation

The final stage brought the whole door back to life. Painted in a deep, shiny black and fitted with restored or replaced parts, the transformation was complete. The door now has a sleek modern look that enhances the property’s entrance. See more about Wood Restoration here.
